Timothy S. Fisher became the 17th dean of the UConn School of Law on July 1, 2013 following thirty-five years in private practice. Prior to becoming dean, he taught at the Law School as an adjunct instructor. Dean Fisher's legal career has focused on the fields of ethics, alternate dispute resolution, commercial transactions, construction law, family wealth disputes, and municipal law. A graduate of Yale University and Columbia Law School, Dean Fisher has served in numerous public service and private sector leadership roles. He currently chairs the State’s Commission on Judicial Compensation.
As associate dean for academic affairs, Associate Dean Levin, a longtime advisor to the Women’s Law Student Association, is responsible for marshaling the Law School’s resources to ensure the success of its academic mission. Her responsibilities include evaluating the content and direction of the curriculum, working with faculty on pedagogical issues, selecting and guiding adjunct faculty, and advising students on a wide range of issues.
Anne C. Dailey serves as associate dean for research and faculty development. In this position, Dean Dailey provides support and guidance to untenured faculty, ensures that faculty members have the resources they need to carry out writing and teaching, and generally oversees the scholarly mission of the Law School. She facilitates faculty travel to conferences and other speaking engagements as well as the bringing in of scholars from other law schools across the world. Her duties also include the dissemination of faculty scholarship, the participation in the faculty appointments process, and the organization of Law School workshops and colloquia.
Paul Chill '85 became the Law School's first associate dean for clinical and experiential education in September 2013. He oversees the Law School's rich assortment of clinical programs as well as the individual externship program, first-year Lawyering Process, and several other experiential learning-based programs and activities. He also works with the associate dean for academic affairs to develop new clinical opportunities and promote innovative teaching methods in nonclinical courses.
Associate Dean Kirk directs all library operations and oversees information systems serving the entire Law School community.
Ellen Keane Rutt has worked for the Law School for 20 years. After her graduation from UConn Law in 1990, she was a litigator in a large law firm in Connecticut. In her role as associate dean for enrollment and strategic planning, Ellen oversees admissions, student finance, and the career planning center. She travels extensively on behalf of the Law School and frequently meets with prospective students who have an interest in attending UConn Law.
Ann Crawford is responsible for the areas of facilities, finance, and personnel at the Law School. Her office is a good place to start if you aren't sure who can help with your question or concern.
Karen received her undergraduate degree in psychology from UConn and her J.D. from UConn Law. After graduation from law school, Karen was a civil rights litigator whose practice focused primarily on employment discrimination, police brutality, and housing discrimination. Karen is admitted to practice in Connecticut and the Federal District Court, District of Connecticut. Karen has presented on numerous panels, conferences, and symposia on diversifying law school populations; the intersectionality of race, class, gender, religion, and sexual orientation; affirmative action and admissions; the Defense of Marriage Act; and numerous pipeline projects. Karen also serves as an adjunct professor teaching Critical Identity Theory.
Jessica oversees the day-to-day operations of the information technology systems, equipment and services for the law school campus. She received her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law and her M.L.S. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to arriving to UConn, Jessica was the assistant director for academic technology at The John Marshall Law School, and was responsible for managing classroom technology, distance education, and media services. She has also created and taught distance education courses at the University of Florida Law School and at The John Marshall Law School. Jessica is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries and Law Librarians of New England.
Julia serves as the Law School liaison to the board of directors of The University of Connecticut Law School Alumni Association, Inc. She is responsible for all events sponsored by the Association including the Annual Meeting/Awards Dinner, Graduate Gatherings, and Reunion. She manages board and committee meetings of the Association and prepares their budgets. Julia also is responsible for all large events that include external audiences for the Law School. These include large parties, symposia, and visits by distinguished speakers. Working closely with the administrator of The University of Connecticut Law School Foundation, Inc., she also manages the distribution of the bulk of the permanently and temporarily restricted funds held and managed by the Foundation.
Ron and his staff work with alumni and other members of the Law School community who wish to support the advancement of the School through their philanthropy. They work collaboratively with the dean, the Law School Foundation and its board of directors to attract the private funding that is vital to keeping the UConn Law School in the forefront of legal education.
Roberta received her bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University, a master's degree in counseling in higher education from Central Connecticut State University and her M.B.A. from UConn. She has served the Law School as director of student finance for many years. Roberta is the past-president for the Connecticut Association of Financial Aid Administrators and serves as a mentor to new financial aid professionals. She has presented on numerous local and national panels regarding financial aid, financial literacy and financial aid in the changing economic times. In addition, Roberta has served on University committees regarding financial aid good practices, the RFI process for lenders, the Financial Literacy Committee, and Red Flags Identity Theft Prevention Program Committee.
Donna manages the day-to-day fiscal operations of the Law School, including purchasing, accounts payable/receivable and daily cash management operations. Donna also oversees the bursar functions related to student billing and accounts. She provides budgetary and financial support to the dean's office and all Law School departments by preparing and analyzing financial reports. Donna received her bachelor's degree in economics from UConn. She serves as the financial liaison to UConn's main campus.
Monique oversees the administrative services and business operations of faculty support services including administrative processes, budgeting, personnel, special projects, resource allocation, and formulation of priorities, goals, policies, and procedures. Monique determines, analyzes, and identifies the immediate and long-range needs of the Law School faculty. Based on her assessments, Monique plans, organizes, directs, monitors, and participates in ongoing training and development to improve the work environment, enhance staff performance, and positively impact the University.
Michelle has served as director of communications for the Law School since 2006. She manages the Law School's print publications, including the Law School's Graduate Report, media relations, electronic communications, social media strategy and research projects. She serves as the primary point of contact for the annual submission of the ABA and USNews questionnaires. Michelle is currently serving as the state coordinator for the Connecticut ACE Women's Network.
Aimée received her J.D. from UConn Law and is admitted to practice before state courts in both Connecticut and New York. She has extensive experience in career planning having previously served as a career counselor focusing her advisement on public interest and government opportunities. Aimée is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association and the American Bar Association, as well as the National Association for Legal Career Professionals (NALP) and the Connecticut Association of Legal Recruitment Administrators (CALRA). She is currently serving as president of CALRA.
Jocelyn oversees the day-to-day operations of the reference, access, acquisitions and cataloging departments in the law library. She also teaches Advanced Legal Research at the Law School. She received her J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center) and an M.L.I.S. from the University of Washington. A member of the New Hampshire Bar, she clerked with the NH Superior Court for two years. Prior to law school Jocelyn served as a Congressional staffer for several years. She is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries and Law Librarians of New England.
In his combined role as director of graduate programs and executive director of the Insurance Law Center, Peter Kochenburger supervises all aspects of the law school's graduate degree programs: the LL.M. in Insurance, the LL.M. in U.S. Legal Studies, and the Doctor of Laws (S.J.D.). He is the primary contact for graduate law students with questions about their academic program. Professor Kochenburger holds a B.A. from Yale and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Steve is the foundation administrator for The University of Connecticut Law School Foundation, Inc. (LSF). Steve’s financial duties include the preparation of the financial statements, with footnotes, which are audited annually by an external auditing firm. These financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Steve prepares and files the Form 990 which is required by the IRS annually. Numerous state filings are done to satisfy individual state compliance laws. Steve reconciles all unrestricted, temporarily restricted and permanently restricted funds in bank and investment accounts to the general ledger. Steve functions as the liaison with the executive, audit, finance and investment committees of the LSF.
Peter Lindseth has been director of International Programs since 2012. In that capacity, he oversees the Law School's U.S. Legal Studies LL.M., S.J.D., and faculty and student exchange programs. Professor Lindseth is a specialist in comparative public law and legal history with emphasis on the administrative state and European integration. He holds a B.A. and J.D. from Cornell and a Ph.D. in European history from Columbia.
Facilities operations staff are responsible for the execution and coordination of various services related to the Law School's physical plant, grounds and related infrastructure with the goal of providing an environment that promotes quality education in a safe setting. Operations Division handles day-to-day maintenance, custodial and general upkeep of facilities on the Law School campus. This includes repairs to building and building systems, minor renovation projects, operation of utility systems (water, heat, AC and electrical) sanitation and recycling, groundskeeping, events, snow and ice control and related activities. Lisa has served as the registrar of the Law School since 1997 and has been in higher education administration since 1989. Lisa oversees the activities of the registrar's office including schedule preparation, registration, grades processing, degree conferral, exam administration and certification of attendance. As registrar, Lisa is the custodian of student records.
