UConn Law Team Earns Award

The Moot Court team of Sarah Butler '12, Brendan Horgan '12, Peter Golfman '12, Michael Lobie '12, and Aaron Spacone '13 were recognized with the best brief award for the northeast region at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

Now in its 53rd year, the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the world's largest moot court competition, with participants from over 500 law schools in more than 80 countries. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. One team is allowed to participate from every eligible school. Teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions of the case. (www.ilsa.org/jessuphome)

The northeast division is comprised of a number of law schools including Harvard, Yale, Boston College, Boston University, Columbia, Cornell and Cardozo. UConn Law's team had the highest total brief score, beating out second place finisher Columbia Law by one point.
