Recent Cases - Arkansas Game & Fish Comm. v. U.S.
- When: March 20, 2013, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
- Where: Chase Hall Room 210
Recent Cases is a course offered to 2L's and 3L's in which different members of the faculty share with students newly decided cases and other legal developments in their area of scholarship or interest. Topics so far this semester have included the Affordable Care Act, Michigan's "Right to Work" Laws, constitutional restrictions on jury deliberations, and a recent decision of the European Court of Human Rights. The course not only exposes students to a vast array of legal topics reflecting emerging or evolving legal doctrines, but also introduces students to many members of the faculty with whom they have not yet had the benefit of taking a class.
We would like to extend an invitation to attend Recent Cases to members of the 1L class. We feel that 1L's will benefit from learning about areas of law to which they have no or limited exposure in the first year curriculum, and from meeting a variety of our faculty members. This exposure may assist 1L's in discovering legal areas that interest them and in choosing courses as they progress through law school.
Recent Cases meets on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:20 pm in Chase 210. This week, Prof. Joseph MacDougald will present "Arkansas Game & Fish Comm. v. U.S."
The course is nearly fully subscribed by upper-division students, but there are a limited number of seats available for 1L's who would like to attend any particular session. If you would like to attend Prof. MacDougald's presentation this Wednesday, please email me directly. I will notify you whether there is space for you to attend and direct you to the relevant reading materials. In future weeks, I will notify you when specific sessions of the class will be open to 1L students.
I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to expand your legal horizons and sample more of what our faculty has to offer. Contact Jennifer Mailly for more information. If you require reasonable accommodations for any of the following events, please contact Jane Thierfeld Brown at 860-570-5132.
