  • Randa Hojaiban '03 has been recognized by the New Britain Bar Foundation with its President's Award for her work serving impoverished children in the local family courts.

  • The Connecticut Law Tribune has recognized Mitchell Pearlman '70 with its Publisher's Award and former dean, Jeremy Paul, with its Service to the Profession Award.

  • Claire Howard '13 has won first place in the Connecticut Bar Association's Labor and Employment Writing Competition for her paper "An Emerging Protected Class: Employment Discrimination in Connecticut and Transgendered Persons."

  • On June 4, Interim Dean Willajeanne F. McLean was presented with the Honorable Robert J. Callahan Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award by the Connecticut Chapter of the Fordham Law Alumni Association. Dean McLean is a 1986 graduate of Fordham Law School.

  • Michelle Pacholec '13 and Megan A. Gentry '15 have been recognized as Outstanding Senior Women during a recent University ceremony honoring academic achievement.

     

  • Chad Landmon '99 has been recognized by the University of Connecticut Honors Program with its 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award.

  • On May 9, Paul Arce '15, Odette Martins '15, Samem Jabarkhail '15 and Raymond Withers-Tong '15 were recognized by the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity at a ceremony celebrating Edwin Archer Randolph.

  • The Connecticut Law Review has recognized Dorrance Sexton, Jr. '68, the editor-in-chief of the first independent Connecticut Law Review, with the 2013 Connecticut Law Review Award.

  • Cecil Thomas '06 will receive the 2013 Judge Maxwell Heiman Memorial Award from the Hartford County Bar Association on April 24. Thomas is a staff attorney for Greater Hartford Legal Aid.

  • On April 20, Cheryl A. Chase '78 and the Chase Family will be among the honorees at the White Coat Gala at the University of Connecticut Health Center.

  • Danielle P. Ferrucci '99 has been elected a fellow of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel.

  • Mary-Ellen Barrett '88 has been named by San Diego Magazine among its top Criminal Lawyers for 2013.

  • Professor Mark W. Janis has been elected as a member of the American Law Institute (ALI). The ALI is beginning work on a new Restatement of U.S. Foreign Relations Law.

  • Kenneth Bartschi '96 was elected a member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers at the Academy's February meeting.

  • Maureen Danehy Cox '80 is the recipient of the Ladder Award from the Connecticut Bar Association's Women in the Law Committee.

  • Lahny Silva '07 has received the Red Cane Award as the best new law professor at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

  • Thomas D. Ritter '77 and Louise S. Berry '80 have been named among the recipients of the 2013 New England Higher Education Excellence Awards.

  • Jami Layaou Hearn '02 has been recognized by the Wyoming Seminary as its 2012 Outstanding Young Alumna.

  • Brenda Bergeron '83, Michael Jefferson '95, Michael Albis '78, Pat Kaplan '78, Chris Meisenkothen '99, Benjamin Zivyon '87, John Stafstrom '81 and Ted Phillips '81 were named among the Connecticut Law Tribune's "Dozen Who Made a Difference."

  • The Honorable Joette Katz '77, commissioner of Connecticut's Department of Children and Families, has been named the Public Official of the Year by Governing magazine. Katz was recognized for her work in decreasing the number of children in group homes and placing them into less restrictive settings.

  • Interim Dean Willajeanne F. McLean will be recognized by On Being a Black Lawyer Magazine as a member of its Power 100 at an event in Washington, DC on February 27.

  • Jeffrey Zyjeski '02 has been named to Connecticut Magazine's 40 Under 40. Zyjeski is an attorney with Gaffney, Bennett and Associates, Inc. in New Britain.

  • January 9 marks the beginning of the regular session of the Connecticut General Assembly where thirteen Law School graduates will serve their local communities. Chris Murphy '02 has been sworn in to the US Senate and Joe Courtney '78 begins his fourth term in the US House of Representatives.

  • Misti Munster '09 has been recognized as "Katahdin Counsel" by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court for completion of 50 or more hours of pro bono work in her community. Munster is an associate at the Portland, ME office of Verrill Dana LLP.

  • The CT Latino News has named the Center for Children's Advocacy as one of its "Champions of Change." The CCA was recognized for the work it has accomplished to affect change for Latinos and non-Latinos in Connecticut through volunteerism, policy implementation and the effective use of the legal system.
