  • On April 11, the Connecticut Law Review will present its 2012 Alumni Award to the Honorable Christopher F. Droney '79. Jonathan C. Zellner '11 will be recognized with the Best Student Note Award.

  • Alice Bruno '81 has been named executive director of the Connecticut Bar Association. Bruno is the first woman to head the organization in its 137-year history.

  • Professor Leslie Levin has been awarded a Fulbright Senior Specialist award.

  • Professor Jon Bauer, director of the Law School's Asylum and Human Rights Clinic, has been recognized by the Connecticut Immigrant and Refugee Coalition with its Myra Oliver Award.

  • Dean Emeritus Phillip I. Blumberg has been recognized by the Connecticut Bar Association with its Tapping Reeve Legal Educator Award.

  • The Moot Court team of Sarah Butler '12, Brendan Horgan '12, Peter Golfman '12, Michael Lobie '12, and Aaron Spacone '13 were recognized with the best brief award for the northeast region at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

  • Irwin J. Hausman '68, his wife Eva and daughter Kim, have been recognized with the Anti-Defamation League's Daniel R. Ginsberg Humanitarian Award.

  • The California Narcotics Officers' Association has recognized Mary-Ellen Barrett '88 as statewide prosecutor of the year.

  • Since its founding in 2002, students and faculty working on cases for the Asylum and Human Rights Clinic have obtained asylum or other relief from removal for 75 clients and their families, enabling them to remain in the United States as lawful residents rather than be deported to countries where they face persecution.

  • William J. Egan '90 has been awarded the 2011 Pro Bono Award by Robinson & Cole LLP where Egan is a partner in the business litigation group.

  • Stephen M. Hendel '78 and his wife, Ruth, have been recognized by The Jewish Theological Seminary with its Louis B. Marshall Award.

  • Beverly Garofalo '91 has been named to the list of finalists for Employment Attorney of the Year for 2012 by Chambers USA Women in the Law.

  • Rebecca Arnold '12 has been selected as a George N. Lindsay Civil Rights Legal Fellow which is awarded by the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

  • In December, Evan Flaschen '82, a partner at the Hartford office of Bracewell & Giuliani, and Pedro Segarra '85, mayor of Hartford, celebrated at Bracewell's fifth annual holiday celebration. Guests were asked to bring items to support a selected group of area non-profits.

  • Bart A. Sayet '83 was recognized recently by the Norwich (CT) chapter of the NAACP with its Community Service Award.

  • Michael J. Donnelly '90, a partner in the Construction Practice Group at Murtha Cullina LLP, has been recognized by the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut (AGC-CT) with the 'Supplier/Service Provider of the Year" award.

  • Jennifer Percy '02 was the recipient of the American Bar Association’s Section of State and Local Government Law’s 14th Annual Jefferson B. Fordham Award for Law Office Accomplishment. Percy is counsel and manager for legal services at North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, Raleigh, North Carolina.

  • Hector Pineiro '89 was the lead attorney in a wrongful death suit against a gun manufacturer that resulted in the largest settlement ever paid to a shooting victim. The 2002 case was settled earlier this year against Kahr Arms of Worcester, MA.

  • Jay Sicklick, director of the Center for Children's Advocacy's Medical-Legal Partnership, has been named a Health Care Hero for 2011 by the Hartford Business Journal for his work in community service and advocacy.

  • The Honorable Joette Katz '77, former CT Supreme Court justice and current commissioner for the CT Department of Children and Families, was recognized as a "Woman of Influence" at the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame 18th Annual Induction Ceremony.

  • Corey J. Brinson '05, Todd E. Cusano '00, Chad A. Landmon '99 and Karen T. Staib '98 were recognized by the Hartford Business Journal in their 2011 "40 Under 40."

  • Professor Mark J. Cowan '04 has received a 2011 Foundation Scholar Award which honors faculty members at Boise State University for outstanding teaching.

  • Brian T. O'Connor '68 was recently honored by the United Way of Western Connecticut with its Community Inspiration Award.

  • Christina N. Gianopulos '94 received the Maria Miller Stewart Award from the Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund.
