Perry Zirkel, a 1976 graduate of the Law School, has earned the Edwin M. Bridges Award by the University Council for Educational Administration. Zirkel, a professor of education and law at Lehigh University, is the author of more than 1,350 publication and presentations. He is one of the most cited authors in education law. Zirkel, the former dean of Lehigh's College of Education, most recently held the Iacocca Chair in Education for a five-year term. He is an organizer of Lehigh's week long Special Education Law Symposium and an annual Special Education Law Conference.

Zirkel's scholarship focuses on empirical and practical studies of special education law as well as more general education law and current labor arbitration issues. His career has spanned 35 years. In addition to his law degree, Zirkel holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and  Master of Laws degree from Yale University.
