I. Dates of Elections
Elections for the 2011-2012 Academic Year are now complete. Should any position become available during the school year, eligible students will be informed of the opportunity to run for such position via a supplemental election process.
II. General Election Information for Candidates
All candidates and nominees for SBA positions must follow the SBA Election Committee ByLaws.

III. Annual Timing of Student Bar Association Elections
1. The President, Vice-President, and Chief Administrative Officer of the Executive Board shall be elected by Members at large on the Wednesday before the Fourth Meeting of the Spring Semester each year. The ABA Representative will also be elected at this time by Members at large.
2. The First and Second Year Day Divisions, along with the Upperclass Evening Division, shall elect its Class Representatives for the following academic year the week following the election of President, Vice-President, and Chief Administrative Officer.
3. The Chief Financial Officer shall be elected by a majority of the Representatives and Officers of the newly elected Board at the first meeting following the election of the First and Second Year Day division, along with the Upperclass Evening Division Representatives.
4. Incoming First Year Day, First Year Evening Division Class Representatives, and the L.L.M. Class Representative shall be elected during the Fall Semester, no more than eight (8) weeks after commencement of classes.
IV. Position Profiles
President: The President of the Board shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Association. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association and of the Board, shall be an ex-officio member of all committees, shall exercise general direction of the business of the Association, subject to the supervision by the Board, and shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Board are executed. Upon completion of the President’s term, the President shall report the activities and business of the Association in an open letter addressed to the members of the Law School community. In addition to these constitutionally mandated responsibilities, the President shall appoint Student Representatives to the Faculty Committees, act as the Parking Ombudsman for the Law School, ensure that fellow officers are carrying out their duties, and represent the Law School on the Universities Student Trustee Election Committee.
Vice President: The Vice-President shall, in the absence of the President, discharge the duties and exercise the powers of the President. He or she shall also serve as the Chairperson of the Social Committee. The Vice-President may choose to delegate the position of Chairperson to any current member of the Board, upon approval by a majority of the Board. The Vice-President also handles ad hoc matters and assists in the supervision of SBA committees.
Chief Administrative Officer: The CAO shall be responsible for noticing, recording and posting the minutes of all meetings and the keeping of Association and Board records, providing notice to the Secretary of State of SBA meetings, attendance recording of meetings, reservations for Knight Hall Student Lounge, and email communication to the student body about SBA meetings. Additional duties include regular maintenance and upkeep of the SBA Starr Hall Office and the Knight Hall storage facilities, maintenance and update of the law school website and the SBA TWEN page, and coordinating elections in cooperation with the Elections Committee. The CAO's position may include additional duties as required by the SBA and the E-Board.
Chief Financial Officer: The CFO shall be the Chief Financial Officer of the SBA and Chairperson of the Budget Committee. The latter position may be delegated to any member of the Board upon approval by a majority of the members of the Budget Committee. The CFO shall also be responsible for the financial records and accounts of the SBA, shall render financial statements to the Board when required, and shall exercise general financial supervision over all committees appointed by or operating under the direction of the Board. With the approval of either the Dean or Associate Dean for finance and Administration the CFO shall be authorized to issue a check for any amount up to $500.00 for any purpose without the prior approval of the Officers or Representatives of the Board.
Representative (Day, Evening, and L.L.M.): The Representatives are responsible for attending regularly scheduled SBA meetings, deliberating and voting on official business of the Board, voicing the interests of their respective classes, acting on SBA Committees, and providing information to their constituents regarding ongoing matters relevant to the law school community.
ABA Representative: The ABA Representative serves as 1 of the school’s 2 official voting delegates to the ABA Law Student Division Assembly. The ABA Representative advocates on behalf of the ABA Law Student Division members at the school and serve as the school’s point person to the ABA Law Student Division, including when issues relating to legal education and legal education standards are up for review and comment. The ABA Representatives also promotes the ABA at their school and communicates the benefits and value of ABA membership in an effort to actively recruit and enroll new members.
