The Legacy Project
Chairs: Tia Chaterjee, Nadia Oviedo, Michael Thomason
The mission of the Corporate and Securities Law Society's (CSLS) Legacy Project is to liaise between UCONN Law Alumni practitioners in the business/corporate realms, and students and faculty. The purpose of the project is to strengthen the alumni network in order to help UCONN Law students explore their career options in the area of Corporate and Securities Law by facilitating on-campus events, informational interviews and coaching, as well as mentorship programs and other networking opportunities. The Legacy Project is being created this year with the hope that interested students will benefit from the future growth of the CSLS alumni network as the law school community strengthens bonds with the pool of alumni working in the private sector, and continues to reach out to new graduates in the coming years.
Chairs: Craig Cooper, Andrew Fink, Ling Liu
The end goal for this committee is to have a functioning publication covering corporate/securities law-related topics, likely to be posted on an online website available to anybody with an internet connection. As the semester progresses and students (CSLS members and non-members) submit research papers for their various classes, the hope is that we can get people to contribute this material for the purposes of our publication. Depending on the reception, we may also consider soliciting feedback and/or contributions from UConn Law professors specializing in the area of corporate/securities law. The aim is to have a publication where UConn Law can showcase the intellect of our community in this specific area of law.
Articles of Incorporation:
Chairs: Steven Camerota, Justine Le, Eric
The goal for the Articles of Incorporation committee is to draft a clear, well-written platform outlining the structure, functions, and goals and strategies of the society that will serve as a guide for current and future members. Ultimately, the overall objective of establishing an “Articles of Incorporation” for the society is to create a lasting structure that will ensure the existence of the organization for many years to come.
The Articles of Incorporation will serve as a go-to guide as to how the society functions, both in terms of day-to-day logistics, and its long terms goals. We hope to have sections, cemented in writing, explaining the society’s mission and strategy statements, the requirements and expectations of members, the procedure of using the society’s wiki page, the procedure for voting for the society’s officers, the hierarchy and responsibly of officers (president, vice president, treasurer, secretary), the set dates and location for Corporate Raw, and the guidelines for the club’s publication and the legacy project. This is list in by no means exhaustive, and we will almost certainly have to add additional sections as we go along.
