Student Affairs

Jennifer Cerny is the Assistant Dean of Students and oversees Student Affairs, which houses the departments of Student Services, Center for Career Development, Disability Services and Wellness. Jennifer joined UConn Law in 2011, after several years at private firms, where she focused her practice on commercial transactions, ADA compliance and insurance defense litigation. At the Law School, she develops a wide range of programs and initiatives, in addition to managing the daily and strategic operations for Student Affairs. Under her leadership, the departments place heavy emphasis on providing holistic services that complement the exceptional education provided in the classrooms at the Law School.

The Student Affairs team provides daily support and advises the student body on topics including wellness, diversity & inclusion, professionalism and disability services, among others. Additionally, the Student Services office provides oversight and guidance to 45+ student organizations and acts as a liaison between students, staff and faculty. Jennifer has held leadership positions in a number of professional and service organizations and has presented at national conferences on topics including disability accommodations, student services and the importance of owning one’s own narrative. Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree from New York University and worked for a Wall Street-based financial company, prior to obtaining her J. D. from UConn School of Law.
