Student Life

Life as a student at the UConn School of Law reflects the diversity of the community, which draws students from across the nation and around the world,  with an Evening Division and myriad events to keep the campus alive into the night. The serene 17-acre campus comprises five stunning Collegiate Gothic buildings on beautifully landscaped grounds, including a majestic law library full of nooks and niches for comfortable studying. The location in the historic West End of Hartford provides private housing for students in the Victorian homes surrounding campus, the city offers a wide array of cultural activities, and the proximity to New York and Boston invites exciting weekend trips.

Less tangible but equally important is the warm and cooperative campus culture, which is reflected in the deep support of the Office of Student Affairs and the accessibility of staff and faculty throughout the law school. A strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion drives a determination to ensure that all students are valued and all students feel that they belong. Aided by flourishing student organizations that enrich campus life and support their members with events, activities and study groups, the UConn School of Law strives to make the law school experience positive and fulfilling for every student.

Student Services

The Office of Student Affairs is the core provider and coordinator of student services at the UConn School of Law, guiding students through the challenges of law school with individual counseling and wellness programming. Staff members handle requests for disability accommodations, offers event guidance to student organizations and coordinate a variety of events and services for students. The Student Affairs Office can also help students navigate the services offered by other departments, including the Center for Career Development, the Information Technology Services Department, the Student Finance Office and others.

The UConn School of Law provides excellent value and return on investment with one of the lowest graduate debt levels in the nation. The Office of Student Finance offers support and guidance on scholarships and the Office of the Bursar handles billing and payment plans.

More than 40 student-run organizations enrich campus life with support for their members, events for the community, study groups, service projects and other activities. The organizations include four law journals and many affinity groups, civic organizations, practice area associations, sports teams and more.
