Biography
Nancy Kennedy, an expert in trademark and internet law, has taught as an adjunct professor at the law school since 2012. She joined the UConn Law faculty in Fall 2023 for a two-year term as visiting professor from practice.
Professor Kennedy maintains a practice at the Connecticut office of Stites & Harbison PLLC, where she manages domestic and international trademark, copyright, trade dress, domain name and other cyberlaw matters. She previously held the position of partner with a top ten US intellectual property law firm and, earlier in her career, served as managing partner of an IP law boutique.
At UConn Law, Professor Kennedy has taught Cyberlaw; Trademark Law; New Technologies and the Law: NFTs, Blockchain, and Web 3.0; and The Business of Lawyering. She also has served as Supervising Clinical Attorney at UConn Law’s Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Law Clinic and at the school’s Animal Law Clinic. As a pro bono court-appointed Animal Advocate Attorney, Professor Kennedy investigates and appears in court cases involving animal abuse and neglect.
Professor Kennedy is a 2005 graduate of the UConn School of Law with a certificate in Intellectual Property Law. She also holds a certificate in International Intellectual Property Law from Tulane University Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
