Bob Yass is a lecturer at the UConn School of Law, teaching the course Insurance and Discrimination.
His career as an attorney was spent largely at The Hartford, where he was a property and casualty attorney and a government affairs executive, retiring in 2018 as vice president and associate general counsel.
He chaired several regional government affairs committees of the American Insurance Association (now the American Property Casualty Insurance Association) and also chaired the Insurance Research Council Advisory Board. Yass is also a director of the Jewish Community Foundation and a past director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford and the Northside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance.
He holds a BA in Political Science from Binghamton University; a JD, magna cum laude, from New York Law School, where he was a member of the law review; and an LLM in Human Rights and Social Justice from the UConn School of Law.
