Barbara Rezner is a graduate of Gettysburg College and received her law degree from Washington and Lee University. After several years in private practice, she transitioned into a position in the Claim Department at Travelers Insurance. She subsequently became a founding member of their Specialty Liability Claim Unit and their Law Department. She moved to The Hartford in 1994 and as product design counsel managed a specialty product development unit for a number of years. At The Hartford she ran a unit in the property-casualty segment of the Law Department and in 2002 she became an assistant general counsel in charge of the Specialty Unit of the Law Department. In 2006, she became the compliance officer for The Hartford’s Commercial Lines and Marketing areas. After retiring from The Hartford, she worked briefly for the State of Connecticut’s Insurance Department. In 2013, she moved again to become the chief compliance officer for IFG Companies, a group of specialty companies primarily operating in the surplus lines market. She serves as assistant general counsel with responsibility for insurance-related issues, corporate secretarial matters, licensing of companies and contractual matters with agents.
