Biography
Diane F. Covello is an Associate Clinical Professor and Co-Director of the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Law Clinic, a program in which law students, supervised by Clinic faculty, represent Connecticut entrepreneurs in connection with patent and trademark matters. In addition, she is Counsel with the Hartford, Connecticut law firm of Alix, Yale & Ristas, LLP, where she focuses on patent procurement in North America, Central America, Europe and Asia. Professor Covello has worked in both large and small law firms in Connecticut and Washington, D.C. and spent several years as in-house patent counsel for Spalding Sports Worldwide, managing patent preparation, prosecution, licensing and litigation.
Professor Covello is a co-inventor of U.S. Patent No. 6,959,280 and U.S. Patent No. 6,018,714, both of which relate to Intellectual Property Insurance. The patents were assigned to IP Value, LLC and have now expired.
Professor Covello earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Kansas and a juris doctor degree from the Duke University School of Law.
