John Harris

Adjunct Faculty


Before joining the adjunct faculty at UConn Law where he teaches a course on Surety Law, John
Harris spent over forty years as a civil trial lawyer specializing in various business-related issues including construction, fidelity/surety, insurance, and business law in cases. Most recently, he practiced at Shipman & Goodwin in Hartford, where he was a Partner. Harris is also an arbitrator or mediator in construction and business matters. 

Harris is the Co-editor of the American Bar Association’s Tort and Insurance Practice Section. He also serves on the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee. He has authored several law journal articles and presented various papers at the American Bar Association Annual Meetings, Tort and Insurance Practice Section, Fidelity and Surety Law Committee Mid-Winter Meeting, and Surety Law Institute. 

Harris holds a BSE from Princeton and a JD from the University of Wisconsin School of Law.
