Biography

Mariah Bowman is the teaching fellow for the Animal Law Clinic at the UConn School of Law. She aids Associate Dean Jessica Rubin in supervising students in the Animal Law Clinic and will serve as an advocate once admitted to the Connecticut Bar.

Professor Bowman is a graduate of Ball State University and the Pace University Elisabeth Haub School of Law, where she earned certificates in environmental law and international law. While in law school, she interned at the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., and the Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the United Nations in New York; and clerked remotely with the Animal Legal Defense Fund. She also worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable Damaris E. Torrent in her final semester of law school.

In March 2023, she was a presenter at the George Washington University Law School Inaugural Spring Symposium titled, Animals and the Anthropocene: A Legal Scholarship Symposium. Professor Bowman has also spoken at other events focused on mental health and wellness for lawyers. She has published several blogs and continues to develop their legal scholarship.
