Biography
Kiel Brennan-Marquez teaches courses in constitutional law, civil and criminal procedure, evidence, and law and technology. His research explores how machine learning and artificial intelligence are transforming our legal institutions—and what, if anything, is lost when human decision-makers are replaced by automated systems. Prof. Brennan-Marquez lectures widely, to both academic and non-academic audiences, and has published dozens of articles in law reviews and peer-reviewed journals. He received his B.A. from Pomona College, where he majored in Religious Studies, and his J.D. from Yale. Before joining the UConn faculty, Prof. Brennan-Marquez held post-doctoral positions at New York University Law School and the Georgetown University Law Center, and he clerked for the Hon. Shira A. Scheindlin of the Southern District of New York, the judge who presided over Floyd v. NYC (enjoining New York City’s stop-and-frisk policies as unconstitutional).
