Biography
Nancy Kennedy, an expert in trademark and internet law, joined the UConn Law faculty in Fall 2023 for a two-year term as visiting professor from practice. She has taught as an adjunct professor at the law school since 2012.
Professor Kennedy maintains a practice as counsel at Cantor Colburn in Hartford, where she manages domestic and international trademark, copyright, trade dress, domain name and other cyberlaw matters. She previously worked as a managing partner at a Connecticut intellectual property boutique law firm. Professor Kennedy volunteers her time as an animal advocate attorney in court cases involving abused and neglected animals. At UConn Law, she has taught Legal Issues in Cyberspace; Trademark Law; The Business of Lawyering; and Newer Technologies and the Law: NFTs, Blockchain and Web 3.0. She also served as a supervising attorney at UConn Law’s Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Law Clinic.
Professor Kennedy is a 2005 graduate of the UConn School of Law with a certificate in Intellectual Property Law. She also holds a certificate in International Intellectual Property Law from Tulane University Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in English and Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
