Stephen B. Keogh is a partner at Keogh, Burkhart & Vetter in Norwalk, Connecticut, where he has practiced since 1985. His practice concentrates on elder law, trusts and estates, long-term care and special needs planning, incapacity and probate litigation.
A graduate of Yale College (B.A., magna cum laude) and Columbia Law School (J.D.), Attorney Keogh brings over 35 years of experience in elder law and estate planning to the classroom. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Keogh previously co-chaired the Elder Law Committee of the Fairfield County Bar Association and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Elder Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.
Keogh is a recognized authority on Medicaid planning and elder care issues, frequently presenting at Connecticut and national continuing legal education programs. He is a member of the Community Bioethics Forum under the auspices of the Yale Medical School Program for Biomedical Ethics, and serves on both the Adult Ethics Committee and Pediatric Ethics Committee of Yale-New Haven Hospital. In 2012, he became the first recipient of the Glenn E. Knierim Pro Bono Award from the Connecticut Probate Assembly in recognition of his service.
At The University of Connecticut School of Law, Keogh teaches the Elder Law Clinic, where students gain practical experience in elder law issues including healthcare decision-making, conservatorship, long-term care planning, and end-of-life matters while serving Connecticut’s elderly population.
