William Roberts

William Roberts is a partner at Day Pitney LLP, where he is the co-chair of the firm’s data privacy and cybersecurity practice. As an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law, he teaches the law school’s data privacy law course. He is a graduate of Colby College and the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he was a Law-in-Action Scholar.
In his professional work, Roberts advises clients nationwide and globally on a wide variety of data privacy and data security matters. He works with health care providers, insurers, technology companies, educational institutions, banks, manufacturers, and others on developing data privacy and security programs, launching new technology products and services, and responding to data breaches. He also has extensive experience in representing clients in data privacy and security-related investigations.
Roberts has been widely recognized for his work as data privacy counsel to businesses and organizations nationwide. He is Chambers-ranked and is a prolific writer and speaker. He is also regularly sought out by the media for his perspectives on state and national data privacy issues. He is a fellow of Information Privacy with the International Association of Privacy Professionals and the recipient of multiple privacy certifications. He is also the recipient of both the Distinguished Leaders Award and the James W. Cooper Fellowship from the Connecticut Bar Association.
