Peter J. Maher ’12 Promoted to Partner
Peter J. Maher ’12 was recently promoted to partner at Shipman & Goodwin. Maher has been with the firm since 2013 as part of its practice group for school law. Maher, a former special education teacher, represents boards of education and other entities in school law, with an emphasis on special education matters.
Doug Dalena ’12 Appointed as Stamford Director of Legal Affairs
Mayor Caroline Simmons announced that she will appoint Doug Dalena ’12 to serve as Director of Legal Affairs for the City of Stamford. Currently, Dalena serves as Gov. Ned Lamont’s Deputy General Counsel where he has helped create and coordinate the legal framework for the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic well as advising state agencies on legal solutions to various policy issues.
Cindy Cieslak ’12 Appointed as the CBA’s Assistant Secretary-Treasurer
The Connecticut Bar Association has announced the appointment of Cindy Cieslak ’12 as the organization’s assistant secretary-treasurer for 2021-22. Cieslak is a partner at Rose Kallor, where she focuses on labor and employment litigation in state and federal courts.
Silvia Schaffer ’12 Promoted to Senior Counsel
The law firm Wood Smith Henning & Berman LLP. announced the promotion of Silvia Schaffer ’12 to senior counsel, effective June 1, 2021. Schaffer, who works out of the firm’s Orange County, California, office, was previousy an associate focusing on complex catastrophic injury, product liability, transportation, and medical malpractice.
Erick Russell ’12 Recognized in Connecticut’s 40 Under 40
Erick Russell ’12 has been recognized in Connecticut’s 40 under 40. Russell is involved in governmental affairs, both as an attorney specializing in government finance and as vice chair of the Connecticut Democratic Party. He is also a Partner at the law firm of Pullman & Comley and he represents state and municipal governments in the issuance of bonds and other debt obligations.

Alfredo G. Fernandez ’12 has been promoted to Partner at Shipman & Goodwin. Fernández is a member of the firm’s national Environmental Practice and advises regional and national manufacturing, technology, education, and real estate organizations with a focus on environmental and international trade matters.

Wyatt R. Jansen ’12 has been named Partner at Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan LLC. Jansen frequently handles cases involving foreign law and first-impression legal issues and has trial experience in some of the largest corporate and trust disputes in Connecticut.
Radha Mohan ’12 Promoted to Senior Policy Advisor and Counsel
Radha Mohan ’12 has been promoted to Senior Policy Advisor and Counsel at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck. Mohan is a member of the firm’s Government Relations Department. She designs legislative and regulatory strategies in areas related to tax, worker training and education, and labor issues for a diverse set of clients that includes public and private corporations, trade associations, coalitions, health insurers and nonprofits.
