Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has appointed Assistant Attorney General Emily Gait ’19 a special counsel for reproductive rights. She is one of two attorneys appointed to respond to challenges to reproductive freedom following the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade. Gait joined the Special Litigation Section of the Connecticut Office of the Attorney General in 2021.

Mikhail Murshak ’03 Joins Michigan Firm
Mikhail “Mike” Murshak ’03 has joined Foster Swift Collins & Smith as a senior attorney in the firm’s Lansing, Michigan, office. Murshak, a licensed patent attorney with extensive experience in intellectual property law, is also an adjunct professor at Michigan State University College of Law and Western Michigan University Cooley Law School.
Adam Rivera ’08 Named CLO at Inbenta
Adam Rivera ’08 has been named chief legal officer of Inbenta, a startup artificial intelligence interface company with offices in the United States, Europe, Brazil and Japan. Rivera previously served as senior privacy leader at DoorDash.
Curtis Tearte ’78 Honored by Brandeis
Curtis Tearte ’78 is being recognized with a 2023 Alumni Achievement Award from Brandeis University, where he earned his BA in 1973. Brandeis is honoring Tearte during the school’s 75th anniversary celebration for his business and philanthropic leadership. Tearte worked at IBM for more than 30 years and served on the company’s Worldwide Management Committee, composed of the top 60 IBM senior executives. He is now chairman of the Tearte Family Foundation, which helps underrepresented students complete high school and pursue post-secondary education. Tearte has served on the Brandeis Board of Trustees and the board of the University of Connecticut Law School Foundation.

Bradley Croft ’95 Named MA Lawyer of the Year
Amy Saji ’21 Selected for Georgetown Law Fellowship
The Health Justice Alliance Clinic at the Georgetown University Law Center has chosen Amy Saji ’21 to fill its 2023-2025 graduate clinical teaching fellowship, starting June 12, 2023. Saji will teach and supervise students enrolled in the clinic and will receive an LLM in Advocacy from Georgetown Law. The clinic is part of the Health Justice Alliance, a medical-legal partnership between Georgetown’s Law and Medical Centers.

The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County has announced the appointment of Michael Pych ’05 to its Board of Directors. Pych is currently a vice president & general counsel for Carrier Global Corporation.
Barb Warner Deane ’86 Speaks at Historical Society Event
Barb Warner Deane ’86 took part in a discussion at the Seneca Falls Historical Society in Seneca Falls, New York, on May 23, 2023, about the American Red Cross Clubmobile program. Deane has written four novels and frequently speaks on the topic of American women in World War II.
Matthew LaLone ’09 Elected to Northeast Arc Board
Northeast Arc announced that Matthew LaLone ’09 has been elected to its Board of Directors. Northeast Arc, based in Danvers, Massachusetts, serves children and adults with disabilities. LaLone is president of administration and general counsel at Energy North.
