Elizabeth Alquist ’94 Receives 2022 Ladder Award
Elizabeth “Beth” A. Alquist ’94 received the 2022 Ladder Award from the Connecticut Bar Association on March 3, 2022. The award, created by the Young Lawyers Section Women in the Law Committee, honors lawyers who understand the importance of mentoring and supporting more junior lawyers and have “left the ladder down” for women to follow in their footsteps. Alquist is an intellectual property partner and chair of the Litigation Department at Day Pitney LLP in the Hartford office. She co-founded the firm’s Women Working Together initiative, which helps shape the firm’s parental leave and flextime policies and ensures equal pay.

Joseph Bruckman ’81 has retired after 22 years as the chief public defender in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He will leave office at the end of March.

Jeffrey Cerio ’09 has been named general counsel and corporate secretary at Atomwise, a pharmaceutical company that uses artificial intelligence for small molecule drug discovery. Cerio joins Atomwise from Triplet Therapeutics, where he was senior vice president and general counsel.
