Morrison Mahoney has announced the election of Christina Canales ’13 as a partner in the firm’s Hartford office. Canales’ practice concentrates in the defense of medical malpractice and professional liability, representing hospitals, assisted living facilities, and various medical professionals. Canales also has experience defending non-medical professionals, including attorneys.

Connecticut General Assembly names Nick Bombace ’09 Office Director
Nick Bombace ’09 has been selected as the new Office Director of the Legislative Commissioner’s Office of the Connecticut General Assembly. Bombace began working in the Legislative Commissioner’s Office in 2012 and most recently has been the attorney for the Appropriations and Executive and Legislative Nomination Committees.
Ryan Hoyler ’19 joins Hinckley Allen
Hoyler ’19 has joined Hinckley Allen as an associate in the firm’s real estate group where he will focus on environmental law, land use, and zoning. Hoyler will join the firm’s Hartford office from Remy Moose Manley, in Sacramento, CA, where he worked closely with developers, engineers, and government agencies to find practical solutions for clients.

Gregg T. Burton ’02 was recognized as one of the Distinguished Leaders at the Connecticut Law Tribune’s Connecticut Legal Awards this year. Burton practices law at Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey, where he specializes in commercial and business real estate transactions.
UConn Law Alumni Named in Managing IP’s IP Stars for 2021
Managing IP has named its IP Stars for 2021, which aims to highlight firms and individuals for contentious and non-contentious IP advice. Michael Cantor ’83 and Leah Reimer ’95 of Cantor Colburn LLP were amongst the lawyers recognized this year. Cantor is highly specialized in patent law, and oversees hundreds of lawyers who help companies across the world with their IP assets. Reimer helps lead the firm’s Chemical, Material, and Life Sciences Department, with a focus on legal and technical issues.
Daniel L. Gottfried ’04 Appointed as Enfinity Global’s General Counsel
Enfinity Global announced the appointment of Daniel L. Gottfried ’04 as their new General Counsel, where he will have responsibility over their legal affairs and internal and external legal teams across the world. Before joining Enfinity Global, Gottfried was a partner at Day Pitney LLP, where he specialized in structuring business agreements.

Chloe L. Scherpa ’20 has joined the Hartford office of Boyle Shaughnessy Law as an associate at the firm. She previously clerked for a civil litigation firm and was executive editor of the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal during her time at the UConn School of Law.

Emily Coombs Waddell ’20 has joined the law firm Verrill as an associate in the firm’s Employment & Labor Group, where she will work to rectify employer and employee issues in the workplace. Before the start of her legal career, she worked in labor relations for an aerospace company.
