Carla I. Zahner ’04 has been elected Partner at the family law firm Louden, Katz & McGrath LLC. Zahner is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the CBA Family Law Section, and treasurer of the Connecticut Collaborative Divorce Group. In addition, she was appointed as a Connecticut Judicial Family Matters Special Master. In this role, she facilitates settlement conferences between parties in specific types of family law matters.

Gfeller Laurie LLP Welcomes Three UConn Law Alumnae
Elizabeth O. Hoff ’15, Stacey Samuel ’17, and Melicent B. Thompson ’96 have been welcomed to Gfeller Laurie LLP. The three UConn Law alumnae have joined the insurance coverage team and will be key additions because of their knowledge and experience in handling first party coverage claims in the natural disaster context, directly relevant to the wave of COVID-19 first party coverage litigation currently before the nations’ courts.
Rae Vann ’93 Named to Board of Directors
Rae Vann ’93, a shareholder at Carlton Fields, has been named to the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity Board of Directors. The collaborative unites Connecticut law firms, corporations, public sector entities, law schools, and state bar associations to make the state a more attractive place for attorneys of color and other diverse individuals to practice law and find satisfying professional opportunities. Vann counsels businesses on mitigating individual and systemic discrimination risks, establishing effective alternative dispute resolution procedures, conducting thorough and effective workplace harassment and other misconduct investigations, and other labor and employment matters.
Fred Cantor ’78 Publishes New Memoir
Fred Cantor ’78 has published a book about his lifelong fascination with the Knicks, including his friendship with UConn Law Professor Emeritus Lewis Kurlantzick, an expert in sports law and a fellow Knicks fan. The book, “Fred from Fresh Meadows: A Knicks Memoir,” was published in November. Cantor will donate all the royalties to the John Starks Foundation, a scholarship fund founded by the retired Knicks star. The new book is Cantor’s third. He has also worked as a film writer, producer and as a lyricist.
Claudia Sklar ’77 Welcomed to Hartford Firm
Claudia M. Sklar ’77, partner at Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C., has been welcomed to the firm’s Hartford office. Attorney Sklar is actively engaged in the litigation of general civil and commercial matter, with an emphasis on creditors’ rights including commercial and residential foreclosures, commercial law, and title insurance litigation.
Jeffrey White ’03 Elected to Business Association Board of Directors
Jeffrey White ’03 was elected to serve on the Connecticut Business and Industry Association’s Board of Directors during the organization’s annual meeting on November 19, 2020. White is chair of the Manufacturing Inductry Practice group at the law firm Robinson & Cole, and has previously worked as an adjunct professor at the UConn School of Law.
Samuel C. Maduabueke ’20 Joins Robinson & Cole
Samuel C. Maduabueke ’20 has been joined the Connecticut-based firm Robinson & Cole as a law clerk in the firm’s Business Transactions Group. Maduabueke will work with clients on a variety of corporate and transactional matters. Maduabueke previously worked at the firm as a summer intern.

Ashley A. Noel ’15 has been named a Shareholder in the Hartford office of Boyle Shaughnessy Law. Noel works in Hartford, concentrating in insurance coverage and extracontractual liability. She also represents insurers in coverage and bad faith litigation, including the prosecution and defense of declaratory judgment actions.

Megan Fitzgerald ’15 has been named a shareholder at Boyle Shaugnessy Law. Fitzgerald is based in Boston and focuses on defending environmental, premises liability, personal injury, and construction defect claims. Before joining Boyl Shaughnessy Law, Megan served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
